Frank

Presented as part of Still, it moves project in April โ€˜24 in CH/NL as a short performance piece.

This piece exists inside the world of Still, it moves, a project which aims to investigate how we articulate meaning from the world around by processing the information we encounter through acts of translation and transformation. This performance examined how we as humans can respond to task-based instruction in an age where we are repeatedly commanding artificial intelligence to do the same. This piece attempts to invert these roles and open up a dialogue between AI and individuals.

here at the door appears a man

and in his hand he has a tray

he puts it on the table

a woman and two children sit down around it

The character of Frank is presented to the audience in both physical and mediated form (via projection) and both entities are tasked with carrying out an instruction. Both Franks enter into a dialogue with an unknown force and attempt to follow the instruction.

Devised, in part, from the writings of Olga Tokarczuk.

are you there, frank?
